Wabeno Economic Development Act
This bill requires the U.S. Forest Service to sell roughly 14 acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin, along with its mineral rights, to a private company called Tony’s Wabeno Redi-Mix. The buyer must pay fair market value based on an official appraisal and cover all federal expenses for land surveys and environmental reviews. In addition, the Department of the Interior must review federal permitting rules for mining stone, sand, and gravel on public lands and issue a public report with recommendations to speed up approvals.
