State Veterans Homes Inspection Simplification Act
This bill allows State Veterans Homes that pass Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) inspections to automatically meet Medicare and Medicaid inspection requirements, eliminating duplicate routine reviews. To qualify, the VA’s inspection and enforcement rules must match or exceed standard Medicare safety guidelines, and federal health officials retain the authority to investigate complaints and issue fines. Inspection findings, safety violations, and quality ratings for these homes will also be published on the federal Nursing Home Care Compare website.
